If you’re trying to create professional videos, there’s one thing you really have to learn how to do.
Laugh at yourself.
Honestly. While I was producing the video content for my online courses in Bali, I decided I was going to have to put together a blooper reel to expose the not so perfect side of video making. It looks so easy when you see the final products but you know what? It really isn’t.
With all the cutting, editing and adjusting that needs to be done to produce 3-4 hours of solid, quality video content, I was going a bit mad so decided to do something that would make at least me laugh – which it did – hope you get a good giggle out of it too!
Moral of the story?
Learn to laugh at yourself – it will make the video creation process so much more pleasurable!

Ready to learn how to avoid death by PowerPoint by creating visual aids that enhance and help you while you’re presenting?
Great! I’ve prepared a tutorial, a checklist and bonus worksheet on how to batch produce professional videos effectively (make lots of videos at once so that you’re saving yourself a lot of time and preparation).
The lesson is available here.
It’s located in the FOUNDATIONS Level of the Library, in the Delivery Skills course:

Absolutely loved this video Maria. He he he he..
I haven’t taken any video of myself yet..but can see my future experience will be just like what you have beautifully portrayed here. I know its not going to be easy, perfect, ideal…but I will make a start on it one day, and let it rip !
Thanks for sharing this….absolutely invaluable. x
Thanks Chantal! The only way you get better at making videos, is to do it on a regular basis – making a 3 minute video LOOKS so easy but the reality is that it takes a LOT longer than (especially if you’re doing the editing etc etc yourself!). My advice for anyone starting out, is to just START. It gets easier every time you do it – and remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect – they never are – the more time you spend trying to get the perfect shot the more time you spend not taking the next video! 🙂
LOL I needed to watch this today Maria – SO GOOD!
I have employed the services of a video guy before and was trying to work out if I could do videos myself. You have just convinced me I can 🙂
Thank you for showing this perfectionist that it can be done xx
You’re welcome Janie! Exactly why I made it – because the end products look so fluid and easy to do – the reality is a little bit different as you just saw! ha ha!
xxx
Love it! Thanks so much, needed this video. Just start, right? Video is definitely up there as one of my biggest fears, but I’m close, thanks for making me laugh about the bloopers sure to come.
Yes! Just get started! My first videos were horrendous – first videos always are! They’re getting better every time but it’s a long road – and I have a long road of ‘better yet to come’ still in front of me – much like an athlete – it takes years of training and certainly doesn’t happen over night! 🙂
Hilarious!!! I can totally relate.
It’s certainly a journey! 🙂
