Talk Less, Impact More: The Educator Edge for Speakers
You’re a subject matter expert. You’ve got personality, lived experience, you know how to hold yourself on stage. When you cross over from a ‘Speaker’ into an ‘Educator’ role though, you might find that your sessions aren’t quite landing with the impact you know they could be. If so, is this you?
- Your runsheet is you talking for 80-90% of the time.
- Your learners aren’t actually doing much with the information you teach them – you’re simply providing them with a lot of information.
- Your learners are distracted, not paying attention, multitasking or clearly underwhelmed.
- Your learning content is tired and you’re not sure how to improve it.
A way forward is possible – and the solutions aren’t as complicated as you might think! It may just be time to update your ‘Educator’ skillset.
The Workshop: Talk Less, Impact More
The Educator Edge for Speakers
This workshop is ideal for speakers, subject matter experts, professionals and thought leaders who want to:
- make their group sessions, presentations, or courses more engaging and impactful
- lift the quality and impact of what they deliver.
Learn how adults actually learn, how to design sessions that keep attention, and how to turn your expertise into something people remember and act on.
This is not a theory based workshop – it’s highly interactive, engaging and demonstrating strrategies, techniques and activities that will harness the energy in the room and keep it going for 3 hours. Maximum 20 participants, to keep the experience personal!
"A teacher affects eternity: he can never tell where his influence stops."

What can you expect from this workshop?
We’ve all been learners in situations where we’ve felt dumb, bored, or thoroughly confused. This workshop will help you create learning experiences that are the complete opposite for your audience: so they feel confident, engaged and ready to apply their new skills immediately.
This workshop demonstrates practical, time proven tips, tricks and strategies to ensure teaching and learning in any context is effective, memorable and immediately applicable, including how inclusivity can bolster the facilitation of learning.
Your existing presentation, online course or training workshop upleveled!
This is not a theoretical class, this is you, your learning materials, and us making them better one slide at a time.
You will be a participant in a range of different activities, and after each one we’ll be looking at how you can adapt and use the strategies in your own presentations or workshops.

The Workshop In Practice

Participant Feedback
Then I attended the Turning Speakers into Powerful Educators workshop run by my friend Maria Doyle. Afterwards we jumped on a call and went through my agenda and run sheet. She quietly helped me see it for what it really was: a lecture in disguise.
So, I shredded it and started again. And this time, I built something completely different.
Last week, I ran back-to-back sessions of that new workshop, and the feedback was ‘off the charts’. Not because people said nice things, but because I could feel the difference myself. There was energy in the room I hadn’t experienced before because participants were thinking, not just listening.
Honestly, that shift came from just one conversation and a facilitator’s guide that I now use as my ‘go to’ every single time I design a workshop.
This is a public thank you to someone who designs extraordinary learning experiences and gave a little of that magic to me. She didn’t just help me fix a workshop. She changed how I think about facilitation permanently.
The difference between a workshop and a lecture isn’t the content.
It’s whether the people in the room are doing the learning or just receiving it. Thank you Maria for embracing Ubuntu and living it. My success is your success, and you gave so generously a gift that I will use well into the future.

The way you kept the learning environment so dynamic was massively helpful for my engagement and learning. Your slides were amazing – such sharp images, powerful metaphors, clear ideas. I also loved the energy you brought to bring everyone along in the journey with you.
That’s all to say, I found the learning experience so valuable and learnt lots! Thanks heaps!!!
